Chambers:
Our mattresses are made from a specially formulated domestic alloy
material that is designed to hold air longer than rubber, are 25
percent stronger than rubber, will stretch 73 percent more than rubber
before breaking, have a 19 percent stronger seam strength, and NO ODOR.
The air chambers are constructed using a welded lap seam that performs
better than the more common butt seam constructed air chambers. Our
chambers have reinforced corners and valve inserts welded as a unit
into the air chambers (not glued in).
Foam Rail System:
Each Somma Airbed comes with the PATENTED "Perfect Fit" contoured foam
rail system.
All of the rails are contoured to allow the air chambers to fit snugly
into the sides of the rails. The
contoured foam rails allow the strength of the air chambers to work in
conjunction with the rails system to form a rectangle with perfectly
straight sides. No matter what level of firmness the air chambers are
adjusted to, the sides of the rectangle will remain straight and true.
The Somma won't bulge and sag like many traditional air mattresses.
Because the Somma rail system is so strong, we
can use a 1.6 density foam in the rails. This minimizes the effect the
foam rails might have on a comfortable night's sleep.
