How does the Somma Aire compare to Select Comfort?
The Select Comfort Sleep Number bed uses a free flow air system in it's air chambers that can lead to "hammocking" when adjusted too soft and "tenting" when adjusted too firm. Somma Aire uses a patented inner coil system that provides proper support no matter what level of firmness you have your bed adjusted to. Additionally Somma Aire uses what we consider to be the best inflation system possible, our perfect fit foam rail system, and incldues thousands of hours of design and engineering to produce the best air mattress sleep system possible.
Can you tell me more about the patented lumbar support system?
Somma Aire air beds have an inner coil system in the lumbar region of each air mattress. These are plastic coils inside the air chamber that provide additional support for your mid body. In most air mattresses, when you let air out of the chambers to make the bed softer, the heaviest part of your body, your hips, will sink down lower than your head and your feet. This phenomenon is called "hammocking" and puts stress on your lower back and spine. In response, your body's muscles tighten up to try and keep your spine straight, leading to a less than optimal night's sleep and an aching lower back. Somma's system keeps the spine in alignment while you sleep no matter how soft or firm you have the mattress set, leading to relaxed muscles, less back pain, and a better night's sleep.
When will my new Somma Aire ship?
Generally your new Somma Aire Sleep System will ship within one to two weeks after placing your order. It will ship via ground freight UPS. Shipping time varies from 2 to 5 business days, depending on what part of the country you are in.
Is the Somma Aire made in the USA?
The Somma Aire system is made 100 percent in the USA in our manufacturing plant in Nebraska. In fact, we are the only major manufacturer of Airbeds to design and manufacturer all of our component parts in house. We do not purchase our pumps from manufacturer A and our air chambers from manufacturer B, etc., and then assemble and box the bed as all of our competitors do. When you purchase a Somma Aire, you know who built it, from the ground up.
Are the Somma Airbeds considered adjustable beds?
There are two types of mattresses that could be considered adjustable beds. One is a bed frame that goes up and down from a sitting to a sleeping position and back again. Another is a mattress where the firmness level is adjustable from soft to firm. The Somma Aire Sleep System is the second of these two - in fact it's dual adjustable! That means each sleeper can adjust his or her side of the bed to whatever firmness level is most comfortable. And Somma's air chambers with their patented inner coil lumbar system provide proper support and spinal alignment no matter how firm or soft the air chamber is adjusted.
What is a Memory Foam Mattress?
A memory foam mattress is a mattress made from a material called visco elastic memory foam. A memory foam mattress is not adjustable. When you purchase a Somma 5 Star or Somma 4 Star with memory foam, you get the best of both worlds. Not only can you enjoy the benefits of a memory foam mattress, but you get the adjustability of sleeping on air!
Will the Somma Aire Sleep System help me sleep better?

Do I really need a foundation, or will my current box spring work?
The Somma Aire foundation is designed to work with our mattresses to provide years of comfort and support. However, if you have a box spring already, you can use it with your new Somma Aire Sleep System. If you find that your box spring is too soft, you can always put a piece of 3/8 inch plywood between your new Somma Aire and your box spring to provide a firmer base for your Somma Aire.
How does the 30-Night satisfaction guarantee work?
You have 30 nights from the date you receive your new Somma Aire to determine if you're going to keep your new sleep system. If for any reason you are not satisfied, you can return it in its original condition and packaging within 30 nights of your purchase and receive a full refund of the purchase price. You will be responsible for return shipping charges.
How long is the warranty?
The normal 12 year Somma warranty is automatically upgraded to a 20 year warranty, 5 years full and 15 years prorated, when you purchase through SommaAir.com. You will not find a better warranty in the business. However, the best thing about the Somma-Aire warranty is that it is backed by Land and Sky, Inc., the leading specialty sleep manufacturer in the country for over 28 years.
